Of all the weird n' wonderful tunes to come out of the jug band era, 'Banjoreno' by the Dixieland Jug Blowers stands head n' shoulders above the rest as true jug-parping oddity. It's an almost frantic minor-key march which makes less n' less sense with repeated listening!! The rest of the album is of an equally high calibre (just not as insane!). Look out for 'Louisville Special' and 'Vamps 0f '28' (with a foreboding warning of short skirts n' loosening morality!)

By time the Washboard Rhythm Boys make an appearance though, it's business as usual with one of the craziest versions of 'Tiger Rag' ever recorded!
